Expand Your Lotus System — One Switch Cover at a Time

The Add-On Lotus Switch Cover lets you extend your Lotus Kit to additional switches throughout your home. Each cover is compatible with the Lotus Ring IR remote, so you can control any switch you add a cover to with a simple point-and-click from across the room.

Available for both Rocker and Toggle switch types. Select the type that matches the switch you want to cover.

Who This Is For

  • Existing Lotus system users who want to add more switches to their setup beyond the 3 covers included in the Kit
  • People with arthritis, stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, ALS, or SCI who need accessible switch control in additional rooms
  • Wheelchair users who want IR remote control of switches in the bedroom, bathroom, or living areas
  • Anyone with low vision who benefits from a larger, easier-to-locate switch target
  • Those aging in place who want to reduce fall risk from navigating dark rooms

Rocker Switch vs. Toggle Switch — Which Do You Have?

  • Rocker Switch: The modern flat paddle-style switch that rocks up and down. Most switches installed after the 1990s are rockers.
  • Toggle Switch: The older lever-style switch with a small protruding lever that flips up and down. Common in older homes.

Not sure which you have? If your switch is flat and wide, it’s a rocker. If it has a small lever sticking out, it’s a toggle. You can order one of each if you have both types in your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Add-On Lotus Switch Cover?

The Add-On Lotus Switch Cover is a single switch cover that extends your Lotus system to additional wall switches in your home. It is compatible with the Lotus Ring IR remote, meaning once installed, that switch can be controlled remotely with a point-and-click gesture from across the room. The Lotus Kit includes 3 switch covers; this add-on lets you cover additional switches beyond those 3.

Do I need the Lotus Ring to use this switch cover?

The Lotus Switch Cover works as part of the Lotus system. To use the IR remote control functionality — controlling the switch from a distance with a point-and-click gesture — you need the Lotus Ring (sold separately). The switch cover can also function as a physical adaptive cover that enlarges the switch target for easier pressing, similar to the covers included in the Lotus Kit.

How do I know if I need a Rocker or Toggle switch cover?

Look at the switch you want to cover. A rocker switch is flat and wide — it rocks up and down when pressed, and is the standard in most homes built or renovated after the 1990s. A toggle switch has a small lever that protrudes from the plate and flips up and down — common in older homes. Select the type that matches your switch. If you have both types in different rooms, you can order one of each.

How many switch covers do I need?

You need one switch cover per switch you want to make accessible. The Lotus Kit already includes 3 switch covers. If you want to extend the system to additional switches — for example, in the bedroom, bathroom, hallway, or living room — order one Add-On Switch Cover for each additional switch. Think about which switches you use most frequently and which are hardest to reach from your usual seated or resting position.

Is the switch cover easy to install?

Yes — the Lotus Switch Cover installs over your existing switch plate without tools, wiring, or permanent modification. No electrician is required. It is a renter-friendly, reversible adaptation that can be installed and removed in minutes, making it suitable for people who rent their home or live in assisted living facilities.

Can this switch cover help prevent falls at home?

Yes — fumbling for a light switch in the dark is a recognized fall risk, particularly for older adults and people with balance or vision impairments. By making switches easier to locate and activate — either by enlarging the physical target or enabling remote IR control from across the room — the Lotus Switch Cover reduces the need to move through unlit spaces. For people aging in place, covering the switches you use most (bedroom, bathroom, hallway) is a practical fall prevention strategy.

Why we know this works!

We love the Add-On Lotus Switch Cover because as OTPs, we know accessibility can't stop at just one switch in the house. A client might have their bedroom light covered, but if the bathroom or hallway switch is still a small, hard-to-target paddle, the fall risk and frustration are still there every time they navigate a dark room at night. This cover extends the same large-target, IR-compatible access to every switch a client actually uses — bedroom, bathroom, hallway, living room — so independence doesn't dead-end at the three switches included in the original kit. Because it installs over the existing plate in minutes with no tools, it's easy to add room by room as a client's needs or living space change. OTPs recommend this because consistent environmental setup reduces cognitive load and error, letting clients rely on the same point-and-click motor pattern at every switch in the home instead of relearning technique room to room. Especially important for wheelchair users extending IR control to the bedroom or bathroom, and for clients aging in place who want dark hallways and stairwells covered to reduce nighttime fall risk. If you're outfitting a switch for the first time, choose the full Lotus Kit instead — this cover is an add-on only and doesn't include the Lotus Ring needed to activate it.
