Why we know this works!
Why we know this works!
We love this raised toilet seat because as occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) we check toilet height on nearly every home visit, and a low toilet is often the hardest surface in the house to stand up from. Why do you need a raised toilet seat after hip replacement? Because hip precautions restrict bending past 90 degrees, and 3 inches of added height keeps your hips above that danger zone while the 21 inch handles give you a stable push point right in front of you. The soft-close lid and quick-release hinge keep it looking and cleaning like a regular seat, and the handles remove for a discreet look.
It is especially valuable for people recovering from hip replacement, knee surgery, or back procedures, and for anyone with arthritis or weak legs. Measure your bowl first, since it fits round and elongated fixed-hinge toilets only, and if walking to the bathroom is no longer safe, a Drop Arm Bedside Commode is the better starting point.
