Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the Long Reach Comfort Wipe work?

A: The Long Reach Comfort Wipe works by extending your reach by 15 inches, making it easier to maintain personal hygiene after using the toilet without excessive bending, twisting, or straining. Simply wrap toilet tissue or a pre-moistened wipe around the cushioned grip at the end of the ergonomic handle, which holds it securely in place. Use the extended handle to reach and wipe comfortably, then press the quick-release button for hygienic, hands-free disposal of the used tissue or wipe. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in any size hand, providing optimal control and ease of use.

Q: Who should use a long reach toilet aid?

A: A long reach toilet aid is beneficial for individuals with limited mobility or flexibility who have difficulty reaching for personal hygiene, people with arthritis or shoulder pain who find bending and twisting uncomfortable, seniors with reduced range of motion, individuals recovering from hip, knee, or back surgery, people with obesity who struggle to reach, those with conditions affecting arm or shoulder movement, and anyone who experiences pain or strain during toileting tasks. The device helps maintain independence, dignity, and thorough hygiene when reaching is challenging.

Q: Can the comfort wipe be used with both toilet paper and wet wipes?

A: Yes, the Long Reach Comfort Wipe is designed to work with both regular toilet tissue and pre-moistened wipes. The cushioned grip at the end of the handle securely holds either type of material in place during use, giving you flexibility to choose your preferred cleansing method. This versatility makes it suitable for different hygiene preferences and needs, whether you prefer dry toilet paper, flushable wet wipes, or a combination of both for thorough cleaning.

Q: How does the quick-release button work on the toilet aid?

A: The quick-release button provides a hygienic, hands-free way to dispose of used toilet tissue or wipes after use. Once you've finished wiping, simply press the button on the handle and the used material releases automatically into the toilet, eliminating the need to touch or manually remove soiled tissue. This feature promotes better hygiene and makes the device easier and more pleasant to use, especially for individuals with limited hand dexterity or those who want to minimize contact with waste.

Q: Is the long reach comfort wipe easy to clean and maintain?

A: Yes, the Long Reach Comfort Wipe is designed for easy cleaning and maintenance. The smooth surfaces and simple construction make it easy to wipe down and sanitize after each use. The durable materials can withstand regular cleaning with standard bathroom disinfectants, ensuring the device remains hygienic for repeated daily use. The compact size (approximately 15 inches long) makes it easy to store discreetly in the bathroom when not in use, and the ergonomic handle design ensures comfortable grip and control during cleaning.

Why we know this works!

We love this comfort wipe because as occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) we know toileting hygiene is the task people are most embarrassed to ask about, and often the first one that threatens living independently. How do you wipe after hip replacement when you cannot reach? You let the tool do the reaching: this 15-inch aid holds toilet tissue or a pre-moistened wipe in its cushioned grip so you can clean thoroughly without the bending or twisting that strains a new hip, a sore back, or stiff shoulders. When you are done, the quick-release button drops the used tissue into the toilet so your hand never touches it. It is especially important for people recovering from hip, knee, or back surgery, those with arthritis or limited shoulder motion, and larger-bodied folks who simply cannot reach. If grip strength or hand coordination is very limited, a Personal Portable Bidet or the Assurance Bidet Attachment does the cleaning with water instead and may be the better choice.
