Why we know this works!

We love this knee walker because as occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) we watch people wear themselves out on crutches within the first week, with sore hands, tired shoulders, and nowhere to carry anything. Is a knee walker better than crutches? For most people healing below the knee, yes: you rest the injured leg on the padded platform and push with your strong leg, which takes the strain off your arms, frees your hands for daily tasks, and lets you move through the house quickly and safely. The handlebars and knee platform both adjust to your height, and it folds to fit in a vehicle. This is especially important for anyone who is non-weight-bearing after foot or ankle surgery, an Achilles injury, or a broken foot. You do need to balance well on your standing leg, and it is not for injuries at the knee or above or for stairs; if one-leg balance is shaky, a wheelchair is the safer short-term choice.

Not sure what you need?

An occupational therapist can assess your situation and recommend exactly what will help. Tell us what you're dealing with and we'll connect you with the right OT.
