These easy-to-use aids help reduce an individual's need to bend when putting on socks and stockings to alleviate stress and the potential for a fall. Sock stays open as the three fingers gently bend to accommodate the contours of the heel and foot. This is the style of sock aid we recommend most when feet have some swelling as it can accommodate for the width of the foot better than a rigid sock aid.

Why we know this works!

We love this flexible sock aid because as occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) we watch people bend right past their surgical precautions just to reach their own toes. Should you choose a flexible or a rigid sock aid? Choose flexible when the foot is swollen or wide: the three soft fingers bend to the contours of the heel and foot while holding the sock open, accommodating width in a way a rigid shell cannot. Load the sock, lower it with the 33 inch straps, slide your foot in, and pull. It is especially helpful after hip or knee replacement, back surgery, and for anyone whose feet swell or who cannot bend because of arthritis or shortness of breath. If your feet are a standard width with no swelling, the Rigid Sock Aid offers more structure and can be easier to load.

Not sure what you need?

An occupational therapist can assess your situation and recommend exactly what will help. Tell us what you're dealing with and we'll connect you with the right OT.
