Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the Clip On Patient Alarm work? The Clip On Patient Alarm uses a magnetic pull switch system that activates when the tether cord is pulled. Simply mount the alarm unit to a bed or chair, then clip the tether to the patient's clothing. When the patient moves away, the magnetic connection releases and triggers the alarm to alert caregivers.

Q: Will the Clip On Patient Alarm cause false alarms or tear clothing? No, the magnetic pull switch is designed to release from any angle, which eliminates false alarms and prevents clothing tears. This makes it much more reliable and gentler than traditional alarm systems.

Q: Where can I mount the Clip On Patient Alarm? The alarm can be mounted on both beds and chairs, making it versatile for different care environments. The mounting system is designed to be secure while allowing for easy repositioning when needed.

Q: How do I check if the Clip On Patient Alarm batteries are working? The alarm features a convenient Battery Check Button that allows caregivers to test the battery status without triggering the alarm sound. This helps ensure the device is always ready when needed.

Q: Is the Clip On Patient Alarm suitable for patients with dementia or Parkinson's disease? Yes, this alarm is specifically designed for patients who may wander due to conditions like dementia, Alzheimer's, or Parkinson's disease. It provides a non-restrictive way to monitor patient movement while maintaining their dignity and comfort.

Q: Can the cord length be adjusted on the Clip On Patient Alarm? Yes, the alarm comes with an adjustable cord that can be customized to the appropriate length for different patients and mounting situations, ensuring optimal functionality and comfort.

Q: How secure is the battery compartment on the Clip On Patient Alarm? The battery cover is securely fastened with screws to prevent tampering and ensure the device remains functional. This design feature is particularly important in healthcare settings where device integrity is crucial.

Q: Where is the on/off switch located on the Clip On Patient Alarm? The on/off switch is recessed on the side of the alarm unit, making it less likely to be accidentally activated while still being accessible to caregivers when needed.

Why we know this works!

The clip-on patient alarm is a great way to prevent falls and/or wandering. The alarm is ideal for use in a chair or bed, simply place the alarm on the back of a wheelchair, chair, or bed and attach the locking garment clip to the user's shirt. When the user moves further than the string is set, the magnet will be pulled free from the alarm and it will continuously sound until the caregiver re-attaches the magnet to the alarm. This works as a safety precaution and is perfect for those with dementia or anyone who is at risk for falls. This is not a restraint as the disconnect of the magnet from the device takes only a slight amount of tension and will not limit anyone’s ability to move or get up. The clip-on patient alarm is a great way for the caregiver to have peace of mind without having eyes on their loved one at all times.
