Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the Eye Drop Guide work? The Eye Drop Guide is a simple positioning device that helps you accurately place eye drops into your eyes. It works with most standard eye drop bottles by providing a stable guide that ensures the drops go directly where they need to, eliminating waste and missed applications.

Q: What ages can use the Eye Drop Guide? The Eye Drop Guide is designed to be convenient for all ages, from children who struggle with coordination to elderly adults who may have difficulty with precise hand movements. Its universal design makes eye drop application easier for anyone who finds the traditional method challenging.

Q: Is the Eye Drop Guide compatible with my eye drop bottles? Yes, the Eye Drop Guide works with most standard eye drop bottles available on the market. Its versatile design accommodates various bottle sizes and tip shapes, making it a practical solution for different types of eye medications and lubricating drops.

Q: Can I clean and reuse the Eye Drop Guide? Absolutely! The Eye Drop Guide is both reusable and hand washable. You can easily clean it with soap and water between uses, making it a hygienic and cost-effective solution for long-term eye drop administration.

Q: Why should I use an eye drop guide instead of applying drops directly? Using an eye drop guide eliminates common problems like missing your eye, wasting medication, and contaminating the bottle tip. It provides better accuracy, reduces waste, and makes the process less stressful, especially for those with hand tremors or coordination difficulties.

Q: How does the Eye Drop Guide help people with mobility issues? For individuals with limited hand and arm mobility, the Eye Drop Guide provides stability and positioning assistance that makes self-administering eye drops possible. It reduces the precise motor control needed and helps maintain independence in managing eye care routines.

Why we know this works!

We love this eye drop guide because as occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) we watch people tilt their heads back, blink at the wrong moment, and lose half the drop down their cheek. How do you put in eye drops when your hands shake or you keep missing? Use a guide that does the aiming for you: the bottle sits in the small opening, the guide rests over your eye and keeps the eyelid open, and one squeeze sends the drop where it belongs. It fits most standard bottles, works with one hand, and washes with soap and water so you can reuse it. It is especially important for people using daily glaucoma or dry eye drops who have Parkinson's tremors, arthritis, or one working hand after a stroke. Check first that your bottle fits the small opening, and if tremors affect the whole arm, a caregiver may still need to steady things while the guide handles the aim.

Not sure what you need?

An occupational therapist can assess your situation and recommend exactly what will help. Tell us what you're dealing with and we'll connect you with the right OT.
