This course introduces two innovative treatment tools—LudoFit and DME Connected—designed to enhance client engagement, improve functional outcomes, and reduce therapist workload across clinical and home-based settings. Attendees will hear directly from the founders about the clinical gaps that inspired each tool and how their solutions are currently being used by occupational therapy professionals in real-world practice. The session will include demonstrations, use-case examples, and guidance on how to integrate these tools into various treatment settings. Participants will leave with actionable ideas for applying the tools to support client motivation, home program compliance, and goal achievement.

Evidence Based Rationale
This professional development activity is grounded in evidence demonstrating that timely care coordination, technology-enabled rehabilitation, and engaging digital tools are critical to improving functional outcomes and adherence in occupational therapy practice. A recent scoping review examining delayed hospital discharge identifies delays in securing durable medical equipment and post-discharge supports as persistent system level barriers to safe and timely transitions of care. The review highlights that inadequate coordination of equipment and services contributes to extended length of stay, increased caregiver burden, and elevated risk during the immediate post-discharge period. These findings directly support the course’s focus on tools that streamline access to DME and improve continuity between clinical and home-based care.
In parallel, strong evidence supports the use of digital and interactive rehabilitation tools to improve client engagement and follow-through. Zhang et al. (2022) found that digital rehabilitation programs significantly improve therapeutic exercise adherence compared to usual care, reinforcing the value of technology-supported home programs in promoting sustained participation. Similarly, Stojan et al. (2020) demonstrated that exergame-based interventions positively impact physical and cognitive outcomes in older adults, supporting the role of gamified, interactive movement tools in increasing motivation and functional performance. Together, these studies provide a robust evidence base for integrating platforms such as LudoFit and DME Connected into occupational therapy practice to enhance engagement, support adherence, and improve real-world functional outcomes across settings.
