AskSAMIE Launches Community Project Grant Program to Enhance Accessibility for Seniors

Kansas City, MO – March 6, 2024, AskSAMIE, in collaboration with Health Forward Foundation, JFS Help at Home, and Community Capital Fund, is excited to announce the launch of the AskSAMIE Community Project Grant Program. This innovative initiative is designed to provide critical home modifications and support services for older adults in the Kansas City metro area, enabling them to live safely and independently in their homes.

The AskSAMIE Community Project Grant Program is a testament to the power of collaboration between organizations committed to improving the quality of life for seniors. By pooling resources, research and expertise, the program aims to address the urgent need for accessible living environments for older adults on a fixed income.

Empowering Seniors Through Home Modifications

With a generous grant from the Health Forward Foundation, the program is set to make significant strides in bridging the gap in home accessibility. The AskSAMIE platform will serve as the cornerstone of the initiative, offering a seamless application process for seniors and their families. Eligible applicants can receive up to $1,500 per person for equipment and services, tailored to meet their unique needs.

"Our mission has always been to create accessibility everywhere," said Dr. Brandy Archie, OTD, OTR/L, CLIPP, Founder, and CEO of AskSAMIE. "With the support of our partners including the Health Forward Foundation, we are thrilled to launch this grant program that builds on research that shows simple safety modifications combined with occupational therapy and education can decrease rehospitalization rates and improve quality of life."

A Collaborative Effort for Community Well-being

JFS Help at Home and Community Capital Fund bring invaluable expertise and resources to the project, ensuring a comprehensive approach to home accessibility. From occupational therapy assessments to the installation of adaptive equipment, every aspect of the program is designed to promote safety, mobility, and independence.
